Zenith Launches Boutique Exclusive With Bamford WatchWritten by Alvin Wong
The El Primero like you’ve never seen before.
This is what happens when you let George Bamford run wild in your watch factory. A master customiser known for reworking some of the world's most iconic sports watches including the Nautilus and Monaco, Bamford was reportedly so enthused during one of his early visits to the Zenith manufacture that he collaborated with the company to create the 50-piece limited edition christened the Chronomaster El Primero Radar.
The legendary high-frequency chronograph wristwatch is lavished with design nuances that can only be borne of Bamford’s out-of-the-box creativity and Zenith’s formidable lineage. A sporty number sheathed in black and red, the watch mixes the past and future, and then some.
The dial’s eye-catching gradated hue that accords a look similar to fume dials, and acts as a canvas for some whimsical design nuances, such as the radial lines that evoke the look of vintage El Primero watches, and the different designs for each of the chronograph sub-dials, including the red radar-like 30-second totaliser at three o’clock set with Super-LumiNova.
Encased in matte stainless steel and complemented by a black rubber strap with red stitching, the Chronomaster El Primero Radar is wonderfully off-kilter and whimsical – and soon to be available in November at Zenith boutiques worldwide.
Alvin promises not to be a douche when talking about watches. He may have scoured the Basel and Geneva watch fairs for the past 15 years, and played an instrumental role to the growth of Singapore's pioneering horological and men's lifestyle publications, but the intrepid scribe seeks to learn something new with each story he writes.
