Vacheron Constantin Quai de l’Île Ref 4500S: Review And Singapore Price

The iconic Quai de l’Île family welcomes new entry-level members (Ref 4500S/000A-B195 and 4500S/000A-B196) in a modern stainless steel interpretation.

First unveiled in 2008, Quai de l’
Île was famed for its customisable allure, from its 10-part case construction that allowed owners to mix-and-match materials to their hearts' content, to offering them a huge selection of dials, straps and folding clasps. This year's version, though, adopts a more straightforward approach by focusing on price and profile. The new Quai de l’Île continues to bear the collection's distinctive aesthetics. The shape-in-shape design, where the cushion case has a round bezel and tonneau caseband, anchors the look. Elsewhere, a multi-level dial, either black or silver-toned, features a transparent mineral glass disc stamped with the days of the month. Complemented by a chestnut-hued alligator leather strap, the watch is powered by the sophisticated Calibre 5100 automatic movement with 60-hour power reserve. While all these are well and good, the deal clincher for this Geneva Hallmark-certified watch is its stainless steel construction, which means that the watch is now considerably more affordable than its forebears.

Price: S$23,200 (incl GST)

Like most people these days, Melissa tells the time with her phone. She considers serious timepieces works of art and thinks the perpetual calendar is the handiest complication to date (pun not intended). She's also a Grammar Nazi but promises not to judge if you can't tell the difference between "guilloche" and "guillotine".
