Rolex Submariner ‘No Date’ Ref. 124060: Singapore Price And Review

Sure to please Rolex purists.
Whether your loyalty resides with the ‘date’ or ‘no date’ camp, the unequivocal truth about the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner is that its lineage lies with the latter – the first Submariner was created sans date back in 1954. Historical advantage aside, the Rolex Submariner ‘No Date’ is loved by its fans mostly for its neat dial symmetry, which lends a bit more credence to its tool watch allure – though that’s not to say that the models with date, which are just as popular for featuring Rolex’s famous Cyclops magnifier, aren’t without their fervent devotees.
It all boils down to a question of taste, of course, and CROWN is a huge champion of your right to like. That being said, the latest Rolex Submariner ‘No Date’ Ref. 124060 does set itself apart from the 2020 line-up as the only non-date model, with the rest of the offerings available with the date display in a variety of metals and colour combinations.
A purist’s dream Submariner, the new Ref. 124060 is all killer, no filler – a vision of utilitarianism clad in Oystersteel with black dial and black unidirectional bezel with Cerachrom insert. Like the Submariner Date variants of 2020, this model features a number of tweaks on the inside and out. The new case now measures 41mm, up from 40mm diameter that has been the case (excuse the pun) for over 60 years. The slight increase in size meant that adjustments have to be made elsewhere – namely more tapered and slimmer lugs, as well as broader centre links – so that the watch looks proportionate and wears snugly.
Also new to the Submariner Date is the Calibre 3230, which was launched earlier this year to replace the Calibre 3130 that has served the model since 2001. The new engine promises even better precision, robustness and energy efficiency, featuring Rolex’s patented Chronergy escapement, proprietary blue Parachrom antimagnetic hairspring that is 10 times more resistant to shocks than regular hairsprings, and new barrel architecture that contributes to almost 70 hours of power reserve.

Being a flag-bearing dive watch with 66 years of history, the new-gen Rolex Submariner Ref. 124060 continues to live up to this high-performance legacy with 300m water resistance fortified by Rolex’s Triplock winding crown fitted with a triple waterproofness system, blue Chromalight display on the hands and indices, and Super Chronometer rating of +/-2 seconds deviation per day.
A faithful proponent of the horological belief that the tiniest details matter, Rolex has been true to its modus operandi with the refurbishment of the Submariner collection. There isn’t a need to reinvent the wheel, so to speak, when it has the tools to make the best wheel possible. Though slightly refined and souped-up with a new engine, the Rolex Submariner Ref. 124060 remains a true-school Sub – and that’s how it stays celebrated for years to come.
