Rolex and Tudor tend to be the two brands that watch enthusiasts look forward to most at the annual Baselworld watch fair, with new releases that command column inches and make must-have lists for the year.

However, given the still-uncertain postponement of Baselworld 2020 to 2021 and, amid a rash of extraordinary measures taken by watch companies to safeguard their businesses and public health during this global pandemic, Rolex and Tudor have announced that they will hold off the announcement of new watches indefinitely. Both brands had initially planned to unveil new products via online launches, following the postponement of the annual Baselworld watch fair to 2021.

“In view of the continuing extremely difficult context impacting the entire world, and in order to protect people by avoiding gatherings and one-to-one meetings, we have decided to postpone the announcements to a later date. We have presently not defined a new timing for our release; we will get back to you in due time with further information,” said Rolex in a statement to UK-based watch magazine, WatchPro.
