Breaking News: Roger Dubuis Passes Away At 80

Roger Dubuis' founder leaves a lasting legacy.

Roger Dubuis

The eponymous founder of luxury watch marque Roger Dubuis passed away on October 14 at the age of 80. A company statement lauded his "renown [sic] expertise in Haute Horlogerie, his disruptive vision, (and) his human values (that will) remain close to our heart."

Together with former Franck Muller designer Carlos Dias, Roger Dubuis founded his own label in 1995, best known today for its iconoclastic Excalibur collection and partnerships with automotive names like Pirelli and Lamborghini. In fact, the brand most recently collaborated with the latter on the Aventador S watch (above) with a new calibre inspired by the engine of Lamborghini's Huracán Trofeo EVO.

Roger Dubuis' vision and passion for creating exceptional timepieces will be missed by all in the horological world. Our condolences to his family, friends, and all at Roger Dubuis.

Like most people these days, Melissa tells the time with her phone. She considers serious timepieces works of art and thinks the perpetual calendar is the handiest complication to date (pun not intended). She's also a Grammar Nazi but promises not to judge if you can't tell the difference between "guilloche" and "guillotine".
