Watch Of The Day: Rado CeramicaWritten by Joshua Yap
Your one-minute primer to the Rado Ceramica.
Re-launched in collaboration with Konstantin Grcic in 2016, the Ceramica has since garnered praise from the design cognoscenti, most notably clinching a Red Dot award this year. Continuing to work with the renowned industrial designer, Rado has enriched the range with two ‘firsts’. For starters, the two new models are the first Ceramicas to be equipped with an automatic movement. The black version touts a matte ceramic case like its predecessors, but we have our eyes on the limited edition (701 pieces, pictured) that comes in a matte grey ceramic case, marking the debut of this cool colour in the collection.
Though he wasn’t inducted into the world of watch journalism by choice, Joshua was hooked by mechanical horological wonders in no time. Although he personally favours modestly sized, no-nonsense timepieces, he sometimes misses the outrageous mind-bogglers of the pre-Credit Crunch years. As he dreams of owning a modern haute horlogerie watch one day, he’s currently content scouring the Internet for vintage value buys.
