Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech 44mm: Singapore Price And Review

A new Panerai Luminor that's both dark and extremely light.
We’re only in February and already Panerai has rolled out three new Luminor models. And with Panerai’s PR department telling us it’s the “year which marks the relaunch of the Luminor Marina collection”, it is safe to assume that what we are seeing now is a massive teaser.
If you thought the Luminor Marina Carbotech was a little familiar, you’re not entirely wrong. Aesthetically, it bears similarities to the revolutionary LAB-ID Luminor 1950 Carbotech 3 Days from 2017—sandwich dial with blue lume, Carbotech case and blue contrast stitching on the strap. The Carbotech case, in particular, is a Panerai exclusive, developed by the manufacture’s own Laboratorio di Idee.
Created from superimposed layers of carbon fibre in alternating alignment, the composite material is then put under pressure and temperature control, where the resulting product is extremely resistant to both shock and corrosion.
First seen in the Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech 3 Days Automatic PAM 616, the Carbotech case then went on to race the LAB-ID collection and now, together with the bright blue accents of the sandwich dial, is seen for the first time in the Luminor Marina collection.
At 44mm, the watch may look chunky but it’s also incredibly light, weighing just 96g. It’s also water-resistant to 300m and comes in a water-resistant rubber-like strap christened ‘Panerai Sportech’, making this ticker eminently suited to a sporting lifestyle. It also comes with an additional strap in black rubber and a screwdriver for removing the buckle.
Caseback of the Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech 44mm
Paneristis should be very happy with this piece. It’s less rugged compared to the Submersible, but still sporty enough for weekend activities. Coupled with its classic Luminor DNA, the Luminor Marina Carbotech 44mm is a dark, handsome chap we wouldn’t be surprised to see on the wrist of a well-heeled banker in Raffles Place. Expect to see this in boutiques here next month.
