Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph: Singapore Price And Review

Omega’s big heavy metal hits in one watch.
The term ‘stealth wealth’ is often bandied by brands touting watches that deliberately cloak their intrinsic spirit of luxury in subtler guises, perhaps to suppress an otherwise haughty demeanour or, simply, employed the horological equivalent of a humble brag. Although the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph very much fits the bill of an unassuming baller watch, its furtiveness is far from contrived.
Decked out in shades of grey and gold, the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph features a trio of precious metals – grade 2 titanium, 18K Sedna gold and tantalum. Together, the three alloys endow the watch with a look that is as rich as it is restrained; the combination of hues quietly showing off its standing as a top-end luxury sports watch. As such, one has to pry a little deeper to appreciate the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph’s true lavishness.
Watch lovers will be familiar with grade 2 titanium, an ultra-light but tough alloy featured in numerous top-drawer timepieces and, to some extent, Sedna gold, Omega’s proprietary red gold alloy famed for its warm blush. Grade 2 titanium features on the case and side links, while Sedna gold appears on the bezel, crown and pushers.
Completing the trio is tantalum, which is distinguished by its bluish-grey tone and features here on the base of the bezel and middle links. Rarer than gold and hardier than steel, tantalum, like platinum, is said to be a tough metal to work with. As it is very dense and has a very high melting point, tantalum literally destroys milling tools and, as a result, is produced only in highly limited quantities. That said, Omega has a long association with tantalum, having used it in this specific combination since the 1990s and, more recently, in the 2018 Seamaster Titanium Tantalum limited edition.
The metals’ upscale proposition aside, all three alloys boast robustness and corrosion-resistance – qualities that lend themselves well to a certified dive watch. Powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, a METAS-certified, automatic chronograph movement that boasts unparalleled magnetic resistance of up to 15,000 gauss, as well as features like 300m water resistance, helium escape value and unidirectional bezel, the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph is certainly no yacht party prop. Add the fancy metals’ hardiness and unassuming sheen into the mix, and you get a luxury tool watch that truly looks the part.
Should you ever decide to put the watch to the test, Omega assures your ultimate comfort with a bracelet that comes with a patented extra diver extension system for a snug fit. Available in numbered editions, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph comes in a special presentation box that recalls the look of a water-resistant chamber.
