Review: Nomos Glashutte – Metro 38 Datum Urban BlackWritten by Alvin Wong
Previously housed in a 36.5mm case, the Metro 38 Datum, as the name suggests, has been enlarged slightly for greater presence on the wrist.
The 38mm case is an ideal match for the watch’s minimalist aesthetic. If it were any larger, the watch will look like something out of a museum gift shop. That would be disastrous, of course, considering its mechanical content. The DUW 1401 movement, is equipped with the famed Nomos Swing System, the brand’s proprietary escapement with balance, hairspring, escape wheel and pallet fork that is designed and made in-house.
Alvin promises not to be a douche when talking about watches. He may have scoured the Basel and Geneva watch fairs for the past 15 years, and played an instrumental role to the growth of Singapore's pioneering horological and men's lifestyle publications, but the intrepid scribe seeks to learn something new with each story he writes.
