Nixon x Metallica: Time To Rock

The Kings of Thrash now have their own line of watches. Because why not?
Be warned: This is strictly for fans. That said, Metallica – arguably the biggest name in heavy metal – is also incredibly business savvy, considering that merchandising sales have become the music industry’s fastest growing property type in the past three years. Which brings us to the band’s latest collaboration with fashion label, Nixon, to produce its own line of watches.
The quartz-powered collection comprises a variety of models, all clad in black (but of course). The most wallet-friendly of the lot (above, S$205 each), which also to happens to appeal to us most, is the ‘Time Teller’ range with dials that feature motifs from Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All, Ride The Lightning and Hardwired… To Self Destruct albums, and skull art by the brand’s longtime designer, Pushead.
For something classier, there is the ‘Sentry Leather – Seek And Destroy’ (above, $328), a dress watch with a heavy metal twist. Paired with a leather strap, the dial features bullet-shaped indexes and seconds hand fashioned to look like the iconic ‘Flying V’ guitar.
Last but not least, we have the ‘Corporal SS Model - …And Justice For All’ watch (above, $415), with a dial that flaunts the cracked marble motif and sword-shaped seconds hand from the said album. The watches are due to hit Singapore by end-November, and they certainly offer fans something more elevated than the usual box-set-and-T-shirt option. Metalli-Time, baby.
