Chopard and TIME International Raise Funds For Happy Hearts IndonesiaWritten by Melissa Kong
Helping schools affected by natural disasters.
At a charity gala dinner on April 4, leading names in luxury and lifestyle came together to support the #IAMCHANGE CAMPAIGN, an initiative by non-profit organisation, Happy Hearts Indonesia.
The organisation is dedicated to rebuilding schools that are either located in impoverished areas or have been affected by natural disasters. Roping in supporters like Chopard, TIME International, Vinum Fine Wines and Hotel Thoumieux in Paris, the #IAMCHANGE campaign aspires to rebuild 200 schools over five years in Indonesia’s Nusa Tenggara Timur.
Luxury items like Chopard Happy Sport watches, a Fendi bag and a limited-edition Rimowa suitcase were auctioned off, while guests also had the opportunity to make donations through heart-shaped cards hanging from the ‘Tree of Change’ in the hall.
Over dinner, guests tucked into their appetisers blindfolded to experience what many children in Indonesia have to live with due to their disability. The experience also marked the feat of Happy Hearts partner, Andre Cherbonnier, who ran a marathon blindfolded in Singapore last year to raise funds for rebuilding a school in East Nusa Tenggara that catered to children with disabilities.

Like most people these days, Melissa tells the time with her phone. She considers serious timepieces works of art and thinks the perpetual calendar is the handiest complication to date (pun not intended). She's also a Grammar Nazi but promises not to judge if you can't tell the difference between "guilloche" and "guillotine".
