INTRODUCING: Luminox Navy SEAL Foundation Series

Battle-ready tickers in tribute to Navy SEAL vets.
When one thinks of Luminox, robust beaters with durable built and excellent lume comes to mind, thanks to its longstanding relationship with the Navy SEALs. Since 1992, the brand has been supplying the elite military unit with tough Swiss-made watches that are just as dependable for night missions as they are during the day. The Navy SEAL collection remains a top-seller for the company today, and the Navy SEAL Foundation Series pays tribute to the brave veterans who’ve worn Luminox timepieces in service and protection of their country.

Luminox is an official partner of the Navy SEAL Foundation, which was founded in 2000 to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community, including veterans, their families, and the families of the fallen. The non-profit charitable organisation also helps veterans transition from military service back to the civilian world by providing job opportunities and care for their well-being. That said, watches from the Navy SEAL Foundation Series are no less battle-ready and worthy of your consideration if you are looking for fuss-free watches that can take a beating, such as the latest two models.

Both models feature Carbonox on the watches’ exterior and Luminox Light Technology lighting up the dials. Introduced in 2006, the former is Luminox’s carbon compound material, which is lauded for its lightweight yet durable properties. On the other hand, the latter has been a brand signature since the 1990s, offering excellent legibility in the dark. In essence, it is a self-powered illumination system that utilises tiny micro gas light sources that require no ‘charging’ and can last up to 25 years.

The first model (Ref. 3251.CBNSF.SET, S$1,055, excl. GST) looks like it belongs out in the field as much as it does at the beach club. Its 45mm blackened stainless steel case and Carbonox uni-directional rotating bezel go exceptionally well with its sand-coloured dial, and it comes with a matching nylon strap. To bump up its ruggedness, you can switch to the additional black rubber strap that comes with the watch.

However, we have our eyes on the second model (Ref. 3602.NSF, S$845, excl. GST). Brandishing the Foundation’s colours of navy blue and orange, it features the iconic 45mm turtle-shaped Carbonox case and a bezel in the same innovative material. Its dial has a distinctive striped motif, and the date window at 3 o’clock is magnified by a loupe on the sapphire crystal. Although it may not come with an extra strap, it more than makes up for it with the new Cut-to-Fit rubber strap that ensures a snug fit for any wrist size.

Water-resistant to 200m and equipped with quartz movements, the watches pledge their allegiance to the Navy SEAL Foundation with its logo embossed on its stainless steel screw-down caseback. They are a reminder of the brand’s heritage and a fitting tribute to the elite force that brought it into prominence, garnering attention from professionals and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide.
