Review: IWC – Portugieser Annual Calendar

The Portugieser Annual Calendar pairs the collection’s much-loved dapper refinement with the very useful annual calendar complication.

Unlike a perpetual calendar, which feels like a too-knowledgeable uncle trying to impress you with interesting but unnecessary info, the annual calendar trims the fat and gives you what you need – day, date, month. Coupled with chronograph-esque sub-dials (small seconds and seven-day power reserve), the watch has a semi-sporty feel that falls just about on the right side of elegant machismo. There are several options, including one with a red gold case, but our vote goes for this version in stainless steel case and on-trend navy dial.
