His And Hers: Couple Watches For Valentine’s DayWritten by Melissa Kong
No better way to profess your eternal love than with the gift of time, right?
Forget chocolates and roses. Timepieces are the way to go this Valentine's Day and we've picked out four stunning pairs to get your hearts racing.
Franck Muller Cintrée Curvex
Tonneau-shaped watches don’t get more iconic than the signature Cintrée Curvex from Franck Muller. Reinterpreted for that significant other in your life, this edition comes in an elegant rose gold case for him and a diamond-embellished one for her. Both dials display classic relief numbers while, on the reverse, the ladies’ version features a transparent window with Franck Muller’s signature emblazoned across. Matching black leather straps complete the look for the couple who likes to keep things simple but classy.
Glashütte Original PanoMatic Lunar and PanoMatic Luna
How about some serious moon-gazing this Valentine’s Day? We mean Glashütte Original’s moonphase tickers, of course. Dressed in co-ordinated shades of blue, both watches feature the quintessential off-centre time display and intricately worked moonphase indicator. The 40mm men’s version comes in a magnificent midnight blue dial and alligator leather strap with silver-coloured indexes and Super-LumiNova coated hands, while the ladies get 83 diamonds on the bezel and mother-of-pearl dial, complemented by a pale blue alligator leather strap. And just to show your lady how special she is, her version is available exclusively only in Glashütte Original boutiques.
Tiffany East West Automatic and Mini
It’s hard not to think about that blue box/white bow combo when Valentine’s Day rolls around. Better yet if those boxes yield a beautiful pair of timepieces. First introduced in 2015, the East West collection is inspired by a Tiffany travel clock and offers a throwback to the brand’s sleek rectangular lines from the 1940s. The men’s Automatic comes in a 46.5 x 27.5mm stainless steel case with blue radial guilloche finishing, silver poudré numbers and blue alligator strap, while the ladies’ 37 x 22mm version comes in a powder pink dial with silver poudré numbers and light gray calf single and double wrap interchangeable straps.
IWC Da Vinci Automatic and Automatic 36
This year, women are very much on IWC’s mind as it launches the new Da Vinci collection. The Automatic 36 is one of two new models exclusive to ladies and we think this stainless steel version with 54 diamonds is quite something. Plus, it comes in a gorgeous raspberry-hued alligator strap by Santoni. Men aren’t left behind though. Their version comes in a 40mm case with a minimalist silver-plated dial, large Arabic numerals, date window at six o’clock and a black Santoni leather strap. Contemporary yet with a historical reference, this handsome pair is perfect for sentimental soulmates.

Like most people these days, Melissa tells the time with her phone. She considers serious timepieces works of art and thinks the perpetual calendar is the handiest complication to date (pun not intended). She's also a Grammar Nazi but promises not to judge if you can't tell the difference between "guilloche" and "guillotine".
