Hublot Big Bang Broderie Sugar Skull Fluo: Singapore Price And Review

Get party-ready with an artisanal Hublot.
We know this looks more ZoukOut than St. Gallen, but the clubland cachet of this Hublot collection has its roots in the traditional art of hand-embroidery from the quiet Swiss town.
Back in 2015, Hublot hooked up with Bischoff, a renowned Swiss lacemaker, to create embroidered dials with skull motifs that the watchmaker had designed. The patterns were embroidered on tulle and set as dials. Elsewhere, the intricate needlework in Arabesque swirls were lavished on the carbon fibre bezel and rubber bracelet. The combination of artisanal craft and material play was unprecedented, and the first collection of the Hublot Big Bang Broderie (below) won the Best Ladies Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie the following year.
This year, the collection returns as the Big Bang Broderie Sugar Skull Fluo, featuring the same decorative flamboyance, further amplified by luminous lace. Four colours are available – tantalisingly named Cobalt Blue, Sunflower, Hot Pink and Malachite Green – each paired with blue, yellow or pink sapphires, or tsavorites, and limited to 100 pieces per hue.
The effect, as one would expect is simply eye-popping. Where the original Big Bang Broderie exudes rebellion with a sense of mystery (the timepieces were offered in gold, white or black lace), the new models rock with ostentation and exuberance, making them Hublot thoroughbreds where no-holds-barred flashiness is concerned.
With a 41mm ceramic case, the Big Bang Broderie Sugar Skull Fluo is no waif ladies’ watch. The timepiece offers presence and will make an impression when worn on slender wrists, which is very likely to be the case. The heft is complemented by the automatic HUB1110 movement on the inside, powering the watch with 42 hours of power reserve. An out-and-about kind of watch, this is clearly not something you’d want to wear on quiet nights contemplating life on your patio.
