Review: Glycine – Airman ‘DC-4’

Watch trivia: Glycine came out with the world’s first automatic watch with added 24-hour display in 1954.

This essential travel feature may be common today, but it wasn’t conceived until Glycine’s then-sales director Sam Glur had a serendipitous chat with a pilot, who proposed to him that the said function would be most useful in a pilot’s watch. This year’s version has a particularly nostalgic feel, featuring old-school fonts on the hour markers, Cyclops lens for the date window and military-style olive fabric strap.

Ex Editor-In Chief

Alvin promises not to be a douche when talking about watches. He may have scoured the Basel and Geneva watch fairs for the past 15 years, and played an instrumental role to the growth of Singapore's pioneering horological and men's lifestyle publications, but the intrepid scribe seeks to learn something new with each story he writes.
