Guests got to play watchmaker for one night.

In a move that signals its commitment to Asia, Glashütte Original unveiled three new boutiques in the region within the span of just six weeks. The flagship boutique in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands opened to much fanfare with a lion dance and, later, a cocktail reception where invited guests mingled with the President of Glashütte Original, Mr. Yann Gamard and Regional Sales Manager of Glashütte Original, Mr. Wolfgang Lackner, along with Country Manager of Swatch Group Singapore and Malaysia, Mr. Jose De Cardoso.

Standing at 34sqm, the store is both elegant and rich with watchmaking references—a Glashütte Original wall clock invites you as you enter while a cleverly designed movement graces the ceiling above.

Guests were also invited to Wolfgang Puck’s Spago where they enjoyed a lovely dinner and had the opportunity to view the brand’s 2016 novelties. Among the new timepieces featured at the event were the Senator Excellence Calibre 36, the new Senator Chronometer with a midnight blue dial, as well as updated versions of the Lady Serenade.

One of the evening’s highlights was surely the chance to have a go at the incredibly complex craft of watchmaking. To demonstrate, a young watchmaker from Glashütte was specially flown in to assemble a timepiece and reveal the intricacies behind the precision needed in haute horology. It’s safe to say guests left with a deeper appreciation of the skill and technical mastery required to craft a fine timepiece.
