INTRODUCING: Citizen Series 8 NA1025-10E

The Citizen Series 8 NA1025-10E in black DLC steel.

An all-black edition of the Series 8 to celebrate the collection’s first anniversary.

On the first anniversary of Citizen’s Series 8 revival, it added a new limited edition 870 model to the collection. This handsome timepiece stands out with its all-black aesthetic, created using a scratch-resistant Duratect DLC coating on the satin-finished and brushed stainless steel case and bezel. This sporty-looking watch features a bezel in two precisely cut layers stacked above one another, over the angular 40.8mm case.

The dial of the watch is made from carbon composites, creating a swirling display.
The dial of the watch is made from carbon composites, creating a swirling display that contrasts with the sharp, precise lines of the case.

On the dial, the hour indexes alternate in design with single and double bars, and are tipped with Super-LumiNova. The hour and minute hands are also coated with Super-LumiNova, with a glossy black finish that contrasts strikingly against the grey-black dial. The dial, with its mist-like pattern, comprises carbon composites, a strong and lightweight material commonly used in aviation and high-performance sportscars. This is the first Series 8 model to use this material. A small date window is positioned at 3 o’clock.

The Ref. NA1025-10E is also the first Series 8 model with a transparent caseback that reveals the movement’s escapement and gold-toned rotor. The 24-jewel Calibre 0950 is Citizen’s in-house movement, running at 4Hz and retaining a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. Its automatic movement is regulated within the accuracy of -5/+10 seconds per day. In addition, it’s designed with enhanced magnetic resistance to ensure its accuracy is not affected by the magnetic fields around us all the time. Although Citizen doesn’t specify how it achieves this, it’s likely with a Faraday ring. Finishing the monochrome look is a sporty rubber strap in black connected to the integrated lugs on one end and fitted with a deployant clasp on the other.

Being a sporty model, the Ref. NA1025-10E has a water resistance of 100m. This black beauty is definitely a creative and innovative model from Citizen. The choice of materials, implementation of design, and combination of colour hues are all carefully balanced. The watch is limited to 700 pieces worldwide and available from local authorised dealers at S$2,900.
