INTRODUCING: Breitling Top Time Deus

The Breitling Top Time Deus

Breitling’s Top Time Deus Returns with a New Look

Breitling has released a second Top Time collab piece with Australian motorcycle customiser and surf outfitter Deus Ex Machina. Inspired by the original Top Time chronograph of the 1960s, this new limited edition preserves most of the elements from its 2021 predecessor. That includes the lighting-shaped chronograph seconds hands, ‘squircle’ counters, pump pushers, and racing-style leather strap. The caseback is engraved with an image of a motorcyclist on a Deus bike, designed by Deus creative director Carby Tuckwell.

For adventurers like bikers, surfers, and remote travellers, each of these 2,000 pieces is a symbol of self-expression that harmoniously merges art, fashion, and horology. The 41mm watch is a great fit for all wrists and comes with a waxed-canvas travel tote. Along with the watch, Breitling and Deus have created a great pair-up with new co-branded clothing and accessories, exclusively available at six Breitling flagship stores in Seoul Hannam, New York Madison Avenue, Milan, London New Bond Street, London Regent Street, and Sydney.

The overall weight of the new Top Time Deus is slightly heavier than its predecessor. It has a contrasting sky-blue tachymeter scale and sub-dials against a white lacquered dial, producing a breezy summer vibe; definitely not a typical Deus Ex Machina colour palette but more of a Breitling or surfing influence. Its red-orange detailing is reflected on the seconds hand, chronograph minute and seconds hand, as well as on the dial rim between the 240 to 400 scale. The luminescent touches in the middle of the contrasting black and silver surroundings are found on the minute and hour hands, along with the single bar indexes on the dial and a doubled bar index at the 12 o’clock position.

As usual, the watch is powered by a self-winding, COSC-certified Breitling Calibre 23 with a 48-hour power reserve. Running at a frequency of 28,000 vibrations per hour, it is housed in a stainless steel case, covered with a convex sapphire crystal against a slim bezel, enlarging the watch face. The non-screw-locked crown with a gasket has Breitling’s signature ‘B’, and the watch has a water resistance of up to 30m.

Other accessories produced for the Breitling Top Time Deus partnership include sweaters and hats, available at select Breitling boutiques.

The watch comes with a brown and yellow racing-themed calfskin leather strap with a pin buckle. This modern, rugged, vintage-inspired watch, available in larger quantities than its predecessor, is priced at a very reasonable S$7,350. The Top Time Deus can be purchased at Breitling’s online shop, Breitling boutiques, and authorised retailers.
