Watch Of The Day: Breguet Classique 7147Written by Joshua Yap
Your one-minute primer to the Breguet Classique 7147.
Arguably the purest expression of horology from Breguet, the Classique 7147 relinquished its usual guilloché dial for a pristine one in grand feu enamel, punctuated by iconic Breguet numerals and hands. It’s worth noting here that the small seconds sub-dial is recessed slightly; a remarkable feat, considering the notoriously challenging process of producing such a dial. By contrast, its automatic in-house calibre is lavishly decorated with Côtes de Genève and Clous de Paris, all visible through a sapphire case back. Available in 18K white or rose gold.
Though he wasn’t inducted into the world of watch journalism by choice, Joshua was hooked by mechanical horological wonders in no time. Although he personally favours modestly sized, no-nonsense timepieces, he sometimes misses the outrageous mind-bogglers of the pre-Credit Crunch years. As he dreams of owning a modern haute horlogerie watch one day, he’s currently content scouring the Internet for vintage value buys.
