Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G

Drawing inspiration from its vintage divers circa the 1950s, Tudor’s amazing run of hits, which started in 2012 with the Heritage Black Bay doesn’t look like it is losing steam any time soon. Just when one thought that things couldn’t get any more appealing with the nostalgia-filled collection, Tudor raises the bar yet again with the Heritage Black Bay S&G. Suffice to say, the Black Bay S&G (short for ‘steel and gold’) has shot straight to the top of the brand’s popularity charts, making it one its most coveted models yet.

The bi-metallic look has had its ups and downs, rising to prominence in the 1980s before falling out of favour during the 1990s and early-2000s. But it appears that the style is enjoying an upward trend, with a number of luxury marques employing the two-tone aesthetic in both formal and casual offerings.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G

Tudor’s Heritage Black Bay S&G exudes that extra dash of flamboyance previously missing in its steel and bronze brethren, with the right amount of ostentation to rock a party without appearing too tacky. We love how the dual-tone case and bracelet pairs with the black gilt dial and yellow gold bezel with black inserts – the beautiful contrast really makes the watch stand out. We also love the oversized crown and domed sapphire crystal, which accentuates the watch’s vintage demeanour.

Tudor MT 5612

On the inside, the movement is driven by the in-house MT 5612, which Tudor introduced in 2015 with the North Flag collection. A hardy engine, the movement features a silicon balance spring, offers up to 70 hours of power reserve, and is COSC-certified.

Where previous Heritage Black Bay models exude a sportive spirit, this offering ups the ante with a decidedly more luxurious disposition. While the Heritage Black Bay S&G still makes for an awesome weekend watch, it won’t look too out-of-place in a dressier get-up either.
