Montblanc’s latest timepiece peaks in elegance and style.

Montblanc 4810 ExoTourbillon Slim
One of Montblanc’s bestselling collections, the 4810 series exemplifies the German manufacture’s astounding watchmaking qualities. While the brand’s moniker is inspired by Europe’s highest peak, the collection takes its name from the height of the mountain, which soars 4,810 metres above sea level.

This year, the collection returns after their 10th anniversary with two new 4810 ExoTourbillon Slim models in white gold and red gold. Like their predecessors, they combine Montblanc’s patented ExoTourbillon complication with the addition of a quick stop-second function.

As per its previous model, the watch is powered by the automatic calibre MB M29.24, which incorporates a micro-rotor and is decorated with a Côtes de Genève “en Eventail” motif, seen through the sapphire crystal caseback.

While most tourbillon watches are rather loud in their aesthetics, the 4810 boasts a slim and refined profile that makes for a robust and stylish dress watch. In fact, the watch outperforms certain standard tourbillon constructions with the weight of the ExoTourbillon’s cage being disconnected from the balance wheel. Due to the minimal weight of the cage, a higher precision and improved isochronisms is achieved.

The balance wheel, 9.7mm in diameter, plays an important part in the performance of the timepiece thanks to its 18 screws—with four of them that can be adjusted and the other 14 that are fixed—further improving precision and offering a traditional watchmaking aesthetic.

The watch features a start-stop seconds feature, which is activated by a whip that stops the large screw balance and restarts on demand. A red arrow on the tourbillon cage indicates the seconds and features a practical quick stop-mechanism. All the functions and operations are set via the crown at three o’clock. Additionally, the dial has a gauge that informs the wearer which setting the crown is in.

For the white gold iteration (above), the watch features an eye-catching starry night dial with its upper part made of shiny dark blue aventurine and its lower part displaying the iconic ExoTourbillon construction against a refined Côtes de Genève motif. The look is further enhanced by a rhodium-plated “XII” at the top of the dial and skeletonised hour and minute hands in the centre, which completes the sophisticated look of the watch.

Meanwhile, the red gold model features a satinated middle section and straight horns on the top that curl gently underneath for a perfect fit on the wrist. The thin bezel is set with 68 diamonds totalling 1.326 carats for a sophisticated look that appeals to both sexes. The upper part of the dial is decorated with a silver guilloché pattern that depicts an exploding view of the iconic Montblanc Star. The Roman numerals and indexes are red gold-plated, with the number XII set with 18 diamonds.

Both models are fitted with a black alligator strap that provides the perfect contrast for the watches. If you’re looking for something dashing and unique but not as flashy as most tourbillons, the ExoTourbillon Slim might be the perfect piece for you.
