Watch Of The Day: Hamilton Khaki Field BlackWritten by Joshua Yap
Your one-minute primer to the Hamilton Khaki Field Black.
Those who have admired Chris Pine’s Khaki Field timepiece in the action flick, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, would be glad to know that Hamilton has developed his stealthy watch into a full series. The collection adds three more versions to the fold, (from left) chronograph, automatic day/date, and quartz, of which the chronograph is the most attractive buy as it boasts an automatic movement with an impressive 60-hour power reserve. With its 42mm stainless steel case coated with black PVD, its cool, strapping presence on the wrist is enhanced by a dark-as-night dial with grey luminescent accents as well as its robust rubber strap.

Though he wasn’t inducted into the world of watch journalism by choice, Joshua was hooked by mechanical horological wonders in no time. Although he personally favours modestly sized, no-nonsense timepieces, he sometimes misses the outrageous mind-bogglers of the pre-Credit Crunch years. As he dreams of owning a modern haute horlogerie watch one day, he’s currently content scouring the Internet for vintage value buys.
