Watch Of The Day: Hamilton Intramatic 68Written by Joshua Yap
Your one-minute primer to the Hamiton Intramatic 88.
If old is gold again, Hamilton has its game down pat with this reissue. In fact, it has done such a good job here that watch collectors would be forgiven if they mistake it for the Chronograph B - a 1968 timepiece that's its inspiration. If one can overlook the piston-shaped chronograph pushers and reverse panda dial that mirrors the original's design, one would notice the addition of Super-LumiNova accents and a useful date window. Also, its case size has been updated to 42mm, housing an automatic movement with a respectable 60-hour power reserve.
Though he wasn’t inducted into the world of watch journalism by choice, Joshua was hooked by mechanical horological wonders in no time. Although he personally favours modestly sized, no-nonsense timepieces, he sometimes misses the outrageous mind-bogglers of the pre-Credit Crunch years. As he dreams of owning a modern haute horlogerie watch one day, he’s currently content scouring the Internet for vintage value buys.
