Cartier goes the extra mile.

Cartier Drive de Cartier Moon Phases

Introduced at SIHH 2016, Cartier’s Drive de Cartier collection for men quickly became a firm favourite amongst enthusiasts, thanks to its distinctively dapper design. Like the Tank or Santos, the collection boasts a unique shape – in this instance, a cushion case that’s curved, wide and thin all at once. Designed with vintage automotive undertones, the Drive de Cartier was praised for its refreshing yet classic demeanour.

Adding to the collection this year is the Drive de Cartier Moon Phases. An elegant dress watch that features a moonphase indicator with a blue and gold moon disc at six o’clock, it tracks the cycle of the ethereal orb with extraordinary precision, and only needs to be corrected once every 125 years.

The watch’s refinement owes a lot to its pristine silver flinqué dial with guilloché centre, blue sword-shaped hands, and black Arabic numerals that feature a secret signature spelling out the brand name at seven o’clock. The timepiece sits comfortably on the wrist, too, and pairs superbly with formalwear.

Powering the Drive de Cartier Moon Phases is the automatic Calibre 1904-LU MC, which is fully designed and developed by Cartier. The 25-jewel movement packs 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound and is visible via the display case back.

With the addition of an astronomical complication, the Drive de Cartier Moon Phases is imbued with a tinge of romance without sacrificing its dressy, masculine appeal. Available in rose gold or steel, the watch is also effortlessly sophisticated, and makes a perfect accompaniment whether for the boardroom or the bar.
