Watch Of The Day: Bulgari Divas’ Dream Lapis LazuliWritten by Joshua Yap
Your one-minute primer to the Bulgari Divas’ Dream Lapis Lazuli.
It’s easy to be seduced by this bejewelled beauty. Its voluptuous 37mm case in 18K white gold is embellished with 72 brilliant-cut diamonds (approximately 2.07 carats), and its shimmering lapis lazuli dial mirrors the intense blue of the sapphire cabochon on its crown. Not just another pretty face, its manufacture automatic movement endows it with a jumping hours indicator at six o’clock and a retrograde minutes counter, with the latter enlivened by more diamonds posing as markers. Also available in a heart of ruby dial version, with a rubellite cabochon on its crown, this watch has a power reserve of 42 hours.

Though he wasn’t inducted into the world of watch journalism by choice, Joshua was hooked by mechanical horological wonders in no time. Although he personally favours modestly sized, no-nonsense timepieces, he sometimes misses the outrageous mind-bogglers of the pre-Credit Crunch years. As he dreams of owning a modern haute horlogerie watch one day, he’s currently content scouring the Internet for vintage value buys.
