Bell & Ross Vintage BR V2-94 Steel Heritage
For many, the name Bell & Ross usually conjures up an image of their super huge square-cased BR 01 watches. Not so surprising seeing that the BR 01 made such a huge impact on the watch industry by kick-starting the XL watch size trend. But take a step back into the early days of the brand in the 1990s when they were still in collaboration with Sinn, and you’ll discover an interesting range of round vintage pilots’ watches that were all the rage back then.

Now independent, Bell & Ross continues to maintain these traditional aviators for those who prefer a classic watch to a square timepiece. Ranging from the WW1s to the BR V2s, many of these models offer a highly vintage appeal with modern features that make them extremely versatile. A fine example—the BR V2-94 Steel Heritage.

The watch bears strong vintage features of pilot watches from the 1960s, which was the golden age of the commercial jetliners. The black tachymeter bezel has an anodized aluminium ring with 60-minute scale and Arabic numerals at every 10 plus a triangle marker at 12 o’clock for increased readability. The matte black dial makes a stark but welcoming contrast against the beige Super-LumiNova hour markers and hands while the chrono pushers on the side of the screw-down crown further enhance the old-school feel of the watch.

Powered by the automatic BR CAL.301, the chronograph movement is based on the extremely reliable ETA 2894-2, which is getting rarer day by day as supply for third party movements continue to dwindle. Straightforward in its intent and handsome in execution, you can wear this piece anytime and anywhere you want.
