Watch Of The Day: Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Tourbillon ChronographWritten by Joshua Yap
A one-minute primer to the Jules Audemars Tourbillon Chronograph.
Another superb tribute to Audemars Piguet’s co-founder, here’s a timepiece that we think its namesake himself would be proud to strap on. Previously available only in white gold, it looks even better with an 18K pink gold case that emanates a refined vintage vibe when paired with the brown alligator leather strap. Its openworked manual-winding movement remains a highlight as it is meticulously skeletonised to showcase its inner workings and hand-finishing. Providing additional visual interest, the watch’s tourbillon completes one revolution every 60 seconds to counter the effects of gravity on its accuracy.

Though he wasn’t inducted into the world of watch journalism by choice, Joshua was hooked by mechanical horological wonders in no time. Although he personally favours modestly sized, no-nonsense timepieces, he sometimes misses the outrageous mind-bogglers of the pre-Credit Crunch years. As he dreams of owning a modern haute horlogerie watch one day, he’s currently content scouring the Internet for vintage value buys.
